The PrintHAT is based on open source firmware, Klipper, which runs complex tasks on the powerful Raspberry Pi and simple, but time-critical, tasks on the MCU. This approach allows to reach unprecedented performances, with peaks of 395.000 steps/s
The motion control output stage uses four state-of-the-art TRINAMIC TMC2130 drivers, which allow for ultra silent operations. The drivers are software configurable (SPI) to adapt to different applications. The drivers can be configured for sensor-less homing.
The printHAT features a Power Supply Unit with a wide input voltage range: 9-24 VDC. It allows to power both the board and the Raspberry Pi host from one single supply source. The PSU is equipped with over-current and reverse polarity protection.
The low-level digital interface consists of 8x GPIO fully configurable. The default mapping is six endstops input and two spare IO. The IOs are ESD protected. The high-level output section is equipped with 4x MOSFET capable of driving loads up to 8A average (10A peak).
